The Department of Design (DoD), one of the thirteen departments at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G), was set up in 1998, as one of India’s premier design schools, to enkindle some very ingenious minds en route fluid, versatile trajectories in design and allied domains. DoD is situated in North Guwahati, Assam, on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra amidst breathtaking natural beauty and serenity. The institute campus sprawls over 285 hectares of gently undulating terrain with several lush green hillocks, few lakes amidst panoramic view of the mighty river on one side and a ring of blue hills on the other. The Institute is conveniently accessible from Guwahati city. Opulent creativity and academic premiership are hallmarks of the DoD, cultivated in the stark foundations of its B.Des. (Bachelor of Design) and M.Des (Master of Design) degrees and it’s doctoral (Ph.D in Design) and post doctoral programs. Ours is a vibrant, diverse community of students, faculty, staff and administration at DoD, as designers, technologists, artists, and scholars, in a proficient, interdisciplinary, synergistic environment. Cogent proficiency, informed engagement, transferrable skills and transformative intellect are purposefully developed to the study, invention, facilitation and impaction of human centered design on individuals, groups, and organizations. An extensive, sound curricular and extra curricular educational underpinning provides sensitive problem solving, scholarly thinking, critical analysis and exploratory competencies nurtured in traditions and values, transforming passion into perfection. DoD is proud of its core establishment of academic freedom, curricular innovation, collaborative tolerance, pioneering methods, and technological experimentation. Clear directives shape the ultimate careers of our successful graduates to lead the rapidly changing scenarios of today and tomorrow, contesting complex problems and promoting impactful solutions to compelling challenges. DoD as a progressive academic community of imminent leaders, agile and adept to change, offers meritorious specialized courses of study, committing the breadth and balance of fundamentals and theory of design to contemporary issues and practices; forging invaluable discovery of theoretical insights to generate practical applications and educational experiences via project based learning, traditional design skills as well as emerging, established technologies; and prioritizing humanity and regional cultural sensibility to improve human conditions and integrity of place across global diversity taking full advantage of our local cultural location and connectivity to world centers.

The One Club for Creativity, producer of the prestigious One Show, ADC Annual Awards and Creative Week, is the world's foremost non-profit organization recognizing creative excellence in advertising and design. The ADC Annual Awards honors the best work in terms of craft, design and innovation across all disciplines, including Advertising, Digital, Design and Motion. Creative Week takes place in New York City every May and is the preeminent festival celebrating the intersection of advertising and the arts. The One Club and ADC announced their merger last fall to form The One Club for Creativity, which serves as the umbrella organization for The One Show, ADC Awards, Young Guns, Young Ones, Creative Week, One Screen, Hall of Fame and a wide range of global education and diversity programs. The new entity celebrates the legacy of creative advertising and design, and uses that legacy to inspire future generations. The awards shows each have their distinct focus: the ADC Annual Awards maintains its historical concentration as the champion for craft, design and innovation, while The One Show continues its focus on creativity of ideas and quality of execution. The One Club for Creativity now offers an unparalleled array of complementary programming across creative disciplines. All initiatives fall under five key pillars: education, inclusion, diversity, professional development and gender equality. In addition to awards shows, TOCC programming includes Creative Boot Camps, "Here Are All The Black People" multicultural creative career fair, Creative Leaders Retreat, Young Ones honoring students, Creative Women's Leadership Series, the 50/50 Initiative, Paper Expo, Hands On, Henry Wolf Photography Workshop for NYC public school students, Saturday Career Workshops for talented high school juniors in the five boroughs of New York and others.
