Montréal (Canada) – The Phyllis Lambert Design Montréal Grant will be awarded for a fourth consecutive year. Created for young design professionals, this grant aims to acknowledge and promote the talent of emerging Montréal designers and foster their professional recognition. The winner receives a $10,000 award to fund a project in one of the cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Melbourne (Australia) - Swinburne University Faculty of Design, in collaboration with SPIRE of the University of Southern Denmark, will host the Participatory Innovation Conference 2012 (PIN-C 2012) 12-14 January 2012 in Melbourne (Australia). Five conference tracks explore sources of innovation and ways to invite outside participation.

Rome (Italy) - Established in 1954, ADI's Compasso d'Oro Award is one of the oldest and most influential international design awards. Founded by the 'La Rinascente' department store to recognise quality Italian design products, ADI took over management of the awards in 1964. Nearly 300 award winning products, along with almost 2000 Honorable Mentions, are included in the Compasso d'Oro Award archive.

Montréal (Canada) – Icograda is endorsing letter.2, the second type design competition of the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI), accepting submissions until 15 August 2011. Letter.2 aims to provide a wide-angled snapshot of the state of typeface design around the globe ten years after their first competition in 2001, and to promote typographic excellence and best professional practices.
