ico-D is pleased to endorsed the Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC) 2019. Organised by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and executed by the Department of Visual Communication Design of Asia University, Taiwan International Student Design Competition is now in its twelfth year. The theme of 2019 TISDC is "Empathy."

Since 2003, the Ministry of Education has been utilising its existing educational and school resources for the nurturing of talented young people, especially in the areas of art and design. Through the promotion of the "MOE's Program in Human Resource Development for Colleges of Art and Design", the "MOE Scholarship Programs for Overseas Study in Art and Design" and the "MOE Award Incentive Program for Encouraging University/College Students to participate in International Art and Design Contests", talented individuals have been given valuable opportunities to further develop their areas of exceptional interests and creativity.

From 2010, the "Taiwan International Student Design Competition" is held after the "Taiwan international Design Competition—the Student Section" in 2008 & 2009. It integrates the competitive edges of MOE art and design talent fostering programmes. By hosting international student design competitions, "Taiwan International Design Competition—the Student Section", additionally encourages art and design students worldwide to participate in contests, which can utilise media and advertisements to promote Taiwan; the programme allows international judges or panelists and award winners to advertise the successes of Taiwan's art and design education programs.

Now in its twelfth year, TISDC has become one of the largest student design competitions in the world. The objective of TISDC is to encourage international creative design exchange, develop creative design talents, express the international image of Taiwan attaching great importance to creative design, and establish the international design status of Taiwan. The theme of 2019 TISDC is "Empathy."

TISDC is a competition with student participation from around the world. In 2018, TISDC received more than 20,000 entries from 895 schools and departments in 66 countries/regions.
