Selection Process
After two intensive days of evaluating inspiring and diverse works, the jury made a difficult decision and chose 81 projects out of over 700 international entries. Of this shortlist, 12 projects are going to win gold, while 8 and 15 will receive silver and bronze, respectively; the remaining 46 entries will be honoured with distinctions.

In a first round, the judges rated all of the projects entered online. The projects scoring highest were sent to designaustria and assessed physically. Over 300 graphic designers and illustrators from 27 countries submitted their works, a little more than 20 per cent of which made it to the shortlist. Among the participants were numerous members of designaustria and its partner organisations, in addition to a number of promising new talents.
Award Ceremony
The winners of the trophies in gold, silver, and bronze will not be publically announced before the official award ceremony on 10 November 2016, which will take place at the designforum in the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. On the following day, the Joseph Binder Symposium will take place, with this year's theme being 'Strong Pictures. What is possible with illustration?'
The Joseph Binder Award 2016 will be documented in a catalogue that is to appear in November and present all of the shortlisted projects and the members of the international jury.
