ico-D is pleased to endorse Information+ 2016: Information+ Interdisciplinary practices in information design and visualisation, a conference organised by ico-D Member Emily Carr.
The inaugural Information+ 2016 conference will bring together researchers and practitioners in information design and information visualisation to discuss common questions and challenges in these rapidly changing fields.
Information+ 2016 will be held at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, Canada. It will include three events: a two-day conference (16 - 17 June), one-day hands-on workshop (18 June), and an exhibition of information design and visualisation projects (6 June - 3 July). As an interdisciplinary event, there will be presentations from all fields of professional practice, research, and education in information design and visualisation. Presentation topics will include: the environment, advocacy and law, wayfinding and safety, health and medical applications, social and political issues, and projects in data journalism and the digital humanities, and more. Selected peer-reviewed papers will be published in a special issue of Information Design Journal (IDJ), John Benjamins Publishing.
Dr. Colin Ware, Director of the Data Visualization Research Lab at the University of New Hampshire, and author of several books including Visual Thinking for Design.
Dr. Tamara Munzner, Professor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia and author of Visualization Analysis and Design.

Each year, ico-D endorses a select group of international activities that advance our objective to promote the value of design. Endorsed events demonstrate that they enhance the standards of design, ethics and professional practice. For design awards, an ico-D endorsement is recognition that it has been organised to meet international best practice guidelines under ico-D’s policies and best practices – including jury composition, evaluation criteria and intellectual property protection.
