San Jose (United States) - Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) has announced the call for entries for the thirteenth annual Adobe® Design Achievement Awards (ADAA). The competition recognises the best student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers and computer artists from higher education institutions worldwide who have created innovative projects using Adobe software.

Students are invited to compete in 12 categories, under 3 Media segments, Interactive Experience, Video and Motion, and Traditional Media. Since the ADAA competition began in 2001, nearly 30 000 students from around the world have been involved; in 2012, a record 4968 entries were submitted.

Free to enter and open to students of higher education institutions worldwide, the 2013 ADAA will be judged by a panel of international design experts in two independent judging sessions. Students can submit entries created with Adobe software to earn a chance at gaining recognition, mentorship, Adobe software, and some cash prizes. Submission deadlines are from February 5th to April 12th and from April 12 to June 21st 2013, giving participants more opportunities and flexibility in submitting their work.

Icograda (International Council of Communication Design) is partnering with Adobe in producing the ADAA competition for the fifth consecutive year. “As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, Icograda is proud to look back at what has been achieved with the Adobe partnership.  Together, we have provided a platform for an international presence, facilitated a network of industry expertise, and developed a mentorship program that fosters potential opportunities.”  said Marilena Farruggia, Managing Director of Icograda.
