2011 Adobe® Design Achievement Awards: Call for Entries - Period III

The Adobe® Design Achievement Awards celebrate student and faculty achievement reflecting the powerful convergence of technology and the creative arts. The competition - which showcases individual and group projects created with industry-leading Adobe creative software - honours the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from the world's top institutions of higher education.

Call for entries

Free to enter, the competition is open to students, faculty members, and staff members of higher education institutions throughout the world. Each participant may submit work up to two times in each of the 15 student categories or in three faculty and staff categories.


Contest is open to all individuals age 18 years or older who are full-time matriculated students in an accredited institution of higher education. The contest is not open to any resident of the following countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. United States export regulations prohibit the export of goods and services to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. Therefore residents of these countries/regions are not eligible to participate.


Both individuals and groups may enter up to two unique projects in the following categories during each judging phase. Students and faculty are eligible to enter again if they are not already holding a semifinalist status, either as an individual, team leader, or team member, within the same category:

  1. Interactive Media: Browser-Based Design, Non-Browser Based Design, Application Development, Mobile Design, Game Design, Installation Design, Innovation in Interactive Media in Education
  2. Web and Mobile Analytics: Web Analytics and Mobile Application Analytics
  3. Video and Motion: Animation, Live Action, Motion Graphics, Innovation in Video and Motion in Education
  4. Traditional Media: Illustration, Packaging, Photography, Print Communications, Innovation in Traditional Media in Education


Judging will occur throughout the competition year in all student categories except Web Analytics and Mobile Analytics.* Students are able to submit work for three judging sessions, and semifinalists will be selected during each judging session. To be eligible for submission, a student project must have been created during an academic term that occurred or will occur some time from May 2010 through June 2011.

2011 ADAA judging schedule

For entries submitted and finalised in student categories:
  1. 30 November 2010 – 28 January 2011*
  2. 28 January 2011 – 29 April 2011*
  3. 29 April 2011 – 24 June 2011 (Semifinalists announced in July 2011)
*Semifinalists for Periods I and II have been announced on ADAA Live!

2011 faculty and staff submissions close on 24 June 2011. Semifinalists will be announced in July 2011.

All the work of semifinalists will be judged in person by the official judging panel by 16 August 2011. Finalists will be announced 1 September 2011 at: www.adobeawards.com

*Web Analytics and Mobile Analytics categories require advanced registration and development kit download in order to participate. The Mobile Analytics category registration deadline is 28 January 2011 and the Web Analytics category registration deadline is 27 February 2011. These categories will be judged by 16 August 2011, and finalists will be announced on 1 September 2011.

Finalists will receive Adobe software and a trip to Taipei, Taiwan, where they will be honored in an awards ceremony during the 2011 IDA Congress set for 24-26 October 2011. Category winners also will receive a cash award of USD $3000.
