Full-time faculty position: Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor of Industrial Design
The School of Art + Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor of Industrial Design for a teaching-focused appointment beginning August 16, 2016. This appointment requires service for one nine-month academic year, with the possibility of an extension beyond the first year, depending on performance and the availability of work.
Terminal degree (MFA, MDes or equivalent) in Industrial Design required. Some undergraduate industrial design teaching experience is essential, studio teaching experience is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will have the following:
- Ability to teach CAD Solidworks design modeling and assembly software.
- Demonstrated experience in product form-giving, utilizing both hand and rapid prototyping methods.
- Accomplished in design drawing to communicate product design concepts.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Working knowledge of one or more design applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
