ico-D is a Council of independent Member organisations—a global network that shares common issues, commitments and standards. Members create a unified voice for the global design community and drive a high level dialogue on the leading role design plays in society, culture and the economy.
The biennial General Assembly of ico-D Members establishes the direction of the Council. Professional, Educational and Promotional Members consider and vote on policy, elect the Executive Board, ratify the admission of new Member organisations, and fix the location of the next General Assembly. An Annual General Meeting is conducted in non-GA years.
ico-D Members can also engage in the Platforms, which are an interface for design professionals, educators, thinkers, advocates and leaders to investigate solutions for current issues of relevance, and which enable Members to directly determine ico-D focus, agenda and distribution of resources in establishing the ico-D International Design Agenda. The Platforms have annual physical meetings, and continue their important work through the year both virtually and locally.
Additional membership privileges include nominating for ico-D Awards, promotion of local activities through ico-D Endorsements and social media channels, access to ‘My-ico-D’ toolkit and attendance at Regional meetings.
