OMAR VULPINARI JOINS ICOGRADA EXECUTIVE BOARD

Montreal (Canada) - Jacques Lange, President of the Icograda Executive Board, is pleased to announce that Omar Vulpinari, creative director of the Visual Communication Department at Fabrica (Italy), has agreed to join Icograda s leadership team as a Board Member.

"It is an honour for Icograda to have someone of Omar's calibre as member of the Icograda Executive Board." said Lange. "He brings an energy and passion for communication design and its potential. His achievements demonstrate Icograda's philosophy of leading creatively and using design as a medium for progressive change."

On his appointment, Vulpinari said, "Recent technological revolutions and global economic changes have radically modified the role of the visual communication designer, stimulating the profession but at the same time blurring its priorities, methods and future. I hope to contribute to Icograda's international overview in foreseeing and determining how our profession will evolve in these turbulent times.

Vulpinari was born in the Republic of San Marino in 1963 and raised in the United States. Today he lives in Treviso Italy. He studied communication at the University of Bologna and graphic design at the CFP Albe Steiner in Ravenna.

Since 1998 Vulpinari has been creative director of the Visual Communication Department at Fabrica, the Benetton communications center founded by Luciano Benetton and Oliviero Toscani. At Fabrica, he has directed projects for United Nations, International Council of Nurses, Lawyers Committee for Human Rights, Witness, Amnesty International, Reporters Without Borders, United Colors of Benetton, CocaCola, ArteFiera Bologna, Tim Telecomunicazioni, Istituto Luce, Alessi, Porsche, Piaggio, Vespa, The New Yorker Magazine, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Edizioni San Paolo, Electa, Mondadori, Mediaset, and Fox International.

In 2004 Vulpinari was curator for Phaidon's Area: 100 Graphic Designers and contributor to Steven Heller's Becoming a Graphic Designer for Wiley and The Education of a Graphic Designer for Allworth Press.

Vulpinari has been a frequent speaker and juror for major international design events organised by Icograda, AIGA, AGI, ISTD, Profile Intermedia, GraficEurope and numerous others.
