09 August 2005
Brighton (United Kingdom) - The British Design Initiative (BDI) has launched a not-for-profit organization, British Design Innovation, to promote and facilitate collaboration within the United Kingdom.
Brighton (United Kingdom) - In recognition of the importance of collaboration across creative fields to the delivery of innovation, The British Design Initiative (BDI) has launched a not-for-profit organization, British Design Innovation, to promote and facilitate collaboration within the United Kingdom. This organisation will be chaired by Paul Pankhurst, Executive Chairman of PDD Group Limited.

Thus, BDI's existing membership of product, brand, new media, packaging and service design agencies will be joined by university and industry innovation teams to form a unique membership mix designed to foster collaboration in strategic design thinking.

An Innovation Directory will be made available on the www.britishdesign.co.uk website in order to provide a secure, private online community for members seeking partners in collaborative projects. This directory will share space with the Design Agency Directory, the Design Graduate Directory and other associations whose membership is involved directly in innovation.

To help cover the costs of this collaborative community, BDI will be partnering with several universities to create a project fund.

More announcements will be made as the British Design Initiative develops.
