Brussels (Belgium) - Design Austria (DA), the Austrian professional association of graphic designers, illustrators and product designers, organises a yearly international competition, the Joseph Binder Award, which for the first time was held in 1996. It is named after one of the association s founding fathers, Joseph Binder (1898-1972), who revolutionised contemporary visual design both in Europe and the United States. This year's competition explores new developments and tendencies in the fields of graphic design and illustration.

The competition is open to professional designers and design students, who may participate either as individuals or teams and enter projects realised between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2004.
