Tehran (Iran) - Coinciding with World Graphics Day, the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) hosted Graphic Design Week Tehran 2009, from 23-27 April 2009.
Tehran (Iran) - Coinciding with World Graphics Day, the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) hosted Graphic Design Week Tehran 2009, from 23-27 April 2009.

This first-time event aimed to introduce and exhibit the functions of graphic design in urban societies.

Graphic Design Week Tehran 2009 included the following four exhibitions:
  • Visual identity design in major cities today
  • Corporate identity design
  • City Directional Sign Design
  • Special section: A presentation of Iranian Museum of Graphic Design

The event also included the following lectures, seminars and presentations:
  • Overview of Tehran's city signs (1971-2007)
  • A closer look at Tehran's urban wastes
  • A critique of environmental and outdoor design in Tehran
  • The role of graphic design and architecture in Iranian cities' visual identity
  • A presentation on the Iranian Museum of Graphic Design
  • Function and importance of museums in preserving the cultural identity in civil society
