Montreal (Canada) - Icograda is pleased to announce its newest Education Member, the University of Petra (UOP), in Jordan. Originally established in 1991 under the name of Jordan University for Women, this private institution served the female community of the region. It changed its strategic approach in 1999 to serve both genders and became known as UOP. Its College of Architecture & Arts offers courses in graphic design, interior design and architecture.

The College initially offered only Majors in architecture and interior design. In 2001, the Department of Graphic Design was established. Combining both practical and academic courses, the College offers workshops with state of the art technology as well as travel opportunities outside of Jordan.

The majority of graduating students find work with competitive salaries within the local industry and in neighbouring countries. These graduates often go on to pursue higher education within the arts, mostly in Canada and the UK.

The Deputy Dean of the College of Architecture and Arts, Hani M. Al-Huneidi, is also a Regional Ambassador of INDEX:, a global non-profit network organisation that focuses on 'Design to improve life'.

The University of Petra looks forward to being an active member of the Icograda Education Network and to enhancing the quality of their program in Jordan.
