Buenos Aires (Argentina) - The University of Buenos Aires, the main education institution in Argentina with a design program, has introduced a new international masters program in Communication Design. This program provides a very interesting and interdisciplinary space to think about communication, design, history of arts, new media and multimedia languages.

Communication design plays a large role in contemporary culture. The practice constantly recreates the perceptual and symbolic landscapes of our society and, due to its complexity, requires an innovative and appropriate approach.

For this reason, the Masters in Communication Design integrates a multi-disciplinary and multi-professional approach. Likewise, the contemporary positioning of this program requires communication design thinking that is critical and attentive to the fundamentals of the profession, but also aware of its affects on a social level.

Topics covered include:
  • Tensions between hegemonic discourses and local realities
  • Complexity of the hybridisation of culture in our societies
  • The relationship between design, art and new technologies
  • The culture of the sector and the culture of consumption
  • Connections and conflicts between the market and institutions
