ico-D is pleased to endorse Festival del Cartel 2016 co-organised by Cuban Member Comité Prográfica Cubana and Consejo Nacional para las Artes Plásticas (National Visual Arts Council (CNAP) of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba). Festival del Cartel 2016 takes place this 24-29 April in Havana, Cuba at The National Museum of Fine Arts with the aim promote the Poster as a valuable design media, this year, with a focus on Women in Design.
Running since 2013, the festival was conceived of by Hector Villaverde, President of Comité Prográfica Cubana. In conjunction with exhibitions, symposiums and lectures, a large-scale poster exhibition dedicated to Cuban women graphic designers will take place at the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura and will include designers from Iran and United States. During the entire week of the Festival, numerous exhibitions and openings will take place all around the city of Havana, particularly at San Alejandro, Academy and ISDI. The Festival includes international speakers, designers, professors and students of design on a variety of topics centered around issues related to women, design and the Poster.
25 April - Opening of the poster exhibition featuring Cuban women graphic designers at the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura.
26 April - Colloquium of Women and the Poster
27 April - Celebration of the World Day of Design, at UNEAC.
28 April - Symposium at The National Museum of Fine Arts.
29 April - Inauguration of the exhibition: The Seattle - Havana - Tehran Poster Show at the Centro Habana and other events.
